Is the Coronavirus a Disaster for Feminism

The coronavirus pandemic seems to be generating way more than just economical and health issues. People are arguing that the pandemic is also affecting feminism and pushing the fight back a couple years. Many of these problems come from a trickle down effect from the economies downfall. Family structures have changed and people have had to adapt. Millions of people in the US only have lost their jobs, both women and men. However, according to an article of The Atlantic, families are at risk of falling back to old ways. These are ways in which women are in charge of house chores while men work. During the 21st century it has become extremely common that both men and women in a household work, while kids are in school or get taken care of by a sitter. However, as the article indicates "couples will have to decide which one of them takes the hit." This phenomenon could see a lot of women having to stay home again due to economic or social restrains. Apart from the rising domestic violence worldwide, this seems to be another rising problem for women. However, I think this can also be a moment to see how much we have truly advanced in gender equality. Will it be as easy for women and men to find jobs during a recession? Will salaries be the same? Hopefully we will be able to look more in depth into these aspects that have always shown the inequality and come out from it with even more changes that favor gender equality in terms of labor and family dynamics.
